Itinerary

Departing Cairns we travel south to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Queensland, Josephine Falls!  Here we stretch our legs on a 700 metre interpretive walk into the waterfall, which is sourced from rain that’s fallen upon Queensland’s highest mountain, Bartle Frere. Cool off with a swim and check out the natural waterslide.

We stop at the highest waterfalls in the Tablelands, Mungalli Falls for a picnic lunch (included) and then a short distance away spectacular Millaa Millaa Falls.  Your guide will help you search for platypus at a ‘secret’ location!  You’ll need to be quiet to see one of these shy and elusive critters.

We visit the volcanic crater lake of Lake Eacham. This 60 metre deep lake was formed an estimated 12,000 years ago when molten hot magma rose to the surface causing a massive explosion! The lake is now fed by an underground spring which gives it a deep blue appearance.  Join your guide on a one hour interpretive walk around the lake through dense rainforest and amongst thousands of birds and other wildlife inhabitants.  You may see the world’s smallest kangaroo or ask your guide about the special turtles found here!  There’s even time for a quick dip.

A short distance away is the famous Curtain Fig Tree, estimated to be 800 years old and standing 50 metres tall.  Admire the magnificent branching system that gives this tree the sprawling effect of a massive theatre curtain.

We then wind our way back to Cairns via the Gillies Highway, where we’ll finish the day at one of the local bars with a cool drink and the opportunity to re-live a great day.
