Burdekin BridgeBurdekin Bridge

Ayr

Oz Experience stops here long enough to pick up and drop off travellers.

Oz Experience recommends:
  • Getting off here if you want to work in the Sugar Cane or other agricultural industries
  • Looking out the window as you cross the Burdekin River on an extremely long bridge

Destination Wiki: Ayr

A wiki is a web page updateable by anyone. By travellers, for travellers. Update this yourself! Powered by Travel Generation.

Ayr lies at the heart of one of the most productive sugarcane-growing areas in Australia. Three mills crush and process the local harvest. It is also the mango and melon capital of Australia. If you're getting off here it is probably because of work opportunities.

The area scenically is dominated by the large Burdekin River and the bridge that spans the river which was the longest bridge in Australia for many years.
