The Oz Experience bus travels into the outback to our overnight stop at Kroombit Cattle Station.
There's a local payment od AU$45 to cover dinner, bunk accommodation and breakfast.
Enjoy the original and world famous (in Kroombit) Goat Rodeo which is included in your pass price.
Don’t go to bed before learning to crack a whip (free) and having a ride on the mechanical bull (also included)!
Oz Experience recommends:
- Experiencing a Goat Muster on horseback (optional at own expense). Your guide will book this for you.
Whip Cracking
The stock whip has been used by Australian farmers to make a loud ‘cracking’ sound, not to hit the animals, but alert them and push them forward. Attached to a weighted cane handle is a plaited leather length with a special cracker on the the end. It’s harder than it looks but you will get some expert help from a skilled hand.
Alan, the owner of Kroombit, will often show you how it's done. Anyone can make a crack with a bit of practice if you follow the instructions. You don't have to be strong, just think about the physics at work.
Mechnical Bull
After you’ve had your bush dinner, we have to amuse ourselves and you one way or another so instead of rushing in to ride a real bull we’ve set up a Mechanical Bull.
The guys and gals from the cattle station will show you how it’s done first of all (it really is all about technique, you don’t have to be strong, just keen to have a go) and then everyone will have a turn. Hopefully you’ll stay on for the famed 8 seconds and maybe you’ll find your new career on the night. If you fall off there’s inflated padding to cushion your fall and everyone wears a helmet as well. It’s a real hoot and if you get cocky we can really crank the bull up to top speed.
If you're not game, just watch the locals at full speed or with their trick moves and you’ll be in awe.
Goat Muster HorseRide
We'll admit it: we just can't get enough of goats. so when the opportunity arose to go Horse Riding and round up goats at the same time it seemed like a perfect combination.
Here's how it works: you get your riding helmet, saddle up, get a good horse and then release about 50 goats! You jump on the horse and muster or herd the goats along a track to another pen. You do it with others on horseback and yell and whoop and push the goats on. It's normal farm life and horse riding with a twist for competent and novice riders. All the moving of the horses to stop the goats escape is a kind of a low speed version of herding big cattle is all about. One thing you'll say is that it's unique to Oz Experience.
