Back in 1989, Kiwi Experience introduced a unique travel concept to the world. ‘Experience’ based itineraries, guaranteed frequent departures and flexible travel passes. Thus we invented what many believe is the ideal transport option for backpackers and like-minded travellers. A few years later Oz Experience was launched with travellers loving the hop on hop off travel options. Since then, the ‘Experience’ concept has grown and developed into an extensive network focused on showing you, the traveller, an awesome time.

In 2004, the team at Oz Experience determined the need to bring a whole new feel to the Oz Experience trip! Passengers told us they wanted to experience more interactive ‘Aussie’ type activities and be more challenged on their travels through Australia. So the crew at Oz hit the road in search of the best activities, the best walks and the best locations to provide our passengers with an even better experience. New developments now part of the east coast passes are activity inclusions that are part of your pass. As part of our new changes, we also recognized the need to reduce our group sizes so we could really give you, our passengers, the time and attention required to make damn sure you have the experience of a lifetime!

In February 2005, Oz Experience was bought by Adventure Tours Australia (ATA) – Kiwi and Feejee Experience operate independently under separate ownership. As one of the leading adventure travel networks in Australia, ATA's purchase marks a new positive step for Oz Experience. Their approach to travel was to take smaller groups on more intensified experience via frequent departures. This was a perfect fit for the new direction of Oz Experience, and so ATA now manages a newly developed Oz Experience. Many of the Oz Experience staff who have been around for years have stayed on and so Oz Experience still thrives with the same passion and energy it has been for the past 10 years!
