Thredbo / Mt Kosciuszko Walk

Thredbo is an overnight stop for Oz Experience. Accommodation and meals are included here as part of your Local Payment. Here you’ll get to enjoy the mountain life in one of Australias best alpine regions. We stay in the 3.5 star River Inn Lodge, which is located on the edge of the Thredbo Skifields.

Seasonal itineraries:
From November to may we do the walk to "The Roof of Australia", to the top of Australia's highest mountain -  Mt Kosciuszko. The first part of the walk is taken by chairlift (own expense, but we've got a great deal), its then a gentle hike to the summit. Not many people can say they've climbed the highest mountain in any country!

During winter, (Jun–Oct) we visit the ski village of Perisher/Smiggins for fun in the snow (optional hire of toboggans or snow tubes at own expense). We stay in the nearby town of Jindabyne

Oz Experience recommends:
  • Give yourself a few days here in winter for additional alpine walks or go skiing/snowboarding at the nearby Perisher and Thredbo resorts (own expense)
  • If you're a keen hiker the Thredbo area boasts some of Australia's finest walks
