Whip Cracking

The stock whip has been used by Australian farmers to make a loud ‘cracking’ sound, not to hit the animals, but alert them and push them forward. Attached to a weighted cane handle is a plaited leather length with a special cracker on the the end. It’s harder than it looks but you will get some expert help from a skilled hand.

Alan, the owner of Kroombit, will often show you how it's done.  Anyone can make a crack with a bit of practice if you follow the instructions.  You don't have to be strong, just think about the physics at work.
