Affectionately known as 'the Prom' to regular visitors to the 130kms of coastal environment that forms that includes the most southerly point of mainland Australia stretching into Bass Strait. The area is a National Park with regular sightings of emus, wombats, possums and other small marsupials. Quartz has eroded from the dominant granite rock that forms the peninsula and has formed the white sand beaches that are a feature of the coastline. In a past Ice Age the prom extended as a land bridge connecting Tasmania to the mainland.

There are some popular walks here if you only have a few hours or for an extended stay. If you do want to stay longer you will need to be prepared to camp (the nearest town is 50km away at Foster. Cabin accommodation is available but it is limited and always heavily booked.
